The opening of the new Family Health Unit (USF) Lendas d'Olhão, next Monday, October 2nd, guarantees that «the conditions are met for all people in Olhão to have a family doctor», announced the Municipal Council of Olhão .
According to the municipality, «the process began last April, as a result of the will of a group of doctors and nurses, which the municipality joined, with the aim of creating all the conditions for the implementation of another Health Unit in the municipality. Family».
From that moment on, the municipality guarantees that it has made “every effort to pursue the plan of making Olhão a municipality with a family doctor for all residents”.
The new USF will operate, temporarily, in a space adjacent to the current Health Center, but will soon move to the land next to the Municipal Swimming Pools, «where the definitive facilities will be built, in a location with easy access and a large parking area ».
«This is a happy day for Olhão and for the people of Olhão, as we managed to eliminate in our municipality what is one of the greatest needs felt throughout the country, and in particular in the Algarve. It was a tough battle, in which we had to overcome many obstacles, but each one was worth it, as we took a giant step forward in terms of the quality of healthcare provided in our municipality", said the mayor from Olhão.
