Alcoutim Municipality approves free school transport for students

Higher education students in the municipality receive scholarships

The Municipality of Alcoutim decided to support the entire value of passes for students attending secondary education and vocational education, as long as they were previously requested, as well as for 3rd cycle students attending the Schools of Tavira, Vila Real de Santo António and Mértola, as long as they attend training offerings that do not exist in the Alcoutim School Group.

Considering the municipal policy of supporting children and young people and their families in terms of education and school social action, Alcoutim City Council will also offer Physical and Sports Activity Curricular Enrichment Activities (AEC's) to all 1st cycle students , Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Experimental Sciences, five days a week.

In relation to the costs of books and school supplies, a proposal was approved that provides economic support worth 90 euros to all students in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles, worth 100 euros to all students attending secondary education and professional education and worth 300 euros to all students who attend a CET (Technological Specialization Course) or a CTSP (Higher Professional Technical Course).

On a collective basis, the granting of economic aid worth 300 euros per class, to each class in the Alcoutim School Group, was also approved.

At the same meeting, the Chamber also decided to open a competition for the award of 40 “Dr. João Dias”, with a monthly value of 100 euros, to be allocated over a period of ten months (October to July).

The scholarships are intended for students residing in the municipality who attend higher education courses (bachelor's or master's degree), in public or private establishments, in the 2023/2024 academic year.

The application period runs between the 2nd and 16th of October and to apply, students must sign an individual application form (provided by municipal services or available for download on the Municipality's website) and accompany it with the documents defined in the respective regulations.
