Margarida Balseiro Lopes is the special guest at the last PSD Olhão dinner-debate

dinner debate will have the theme “How to settle young people in the Algarve without housing or qualified work?”

PSD Olhão invited Margarida Balseiro Lopes, vice-president of the Social Democrats, to a dinner-debate of the cycle “Dialogues to the South”, which takes place this Friday, September 15th, in Olhão.

«Dedicated to young people and the main problems they face at national level, problems that are even more accentuated in the Algarve region», the dinner-debate will have the theme “How to settle young people in the Algarve without housing or qualified work?”.

According to the 2021 Census, the municipality of Olhão has been losing population in the last decade, especially in younger and working age groups.

For the president of PSD Olhão, «it is urgent to reverse this trend, as it is common knowledge that the lack of housing and qualified work are the factors that have most led young people to seek opportunities outside the region and the country».

António Andrade considers «the response that the Municipality of Olhão has given to this problem to be very poor, arguing that it is necessary to implement a more efficient housing policy capable of solving people's problems in a timely manner and not in 10 or 15 years' time» .

This will be the last edition of the “Dialogues in the South” dinner-debate cycle promoted by PSD Olhão, which included regional and national names such as the historic Mendes Bota and the president of the social-democratic mayors Hélder Sousa Silva.
