Lagoa hosts the 15th Meeting of Algarve Genealogists

Event takes place between 10am and 00pm

The Municipality of Lagoa is preparing to host, on the 23rd of September, in the auditorium of the Centro Cultural Convento de S. José, the 15th Meeting of Genealogists of the Algarve. 

The event, which will start at 10 am, with guided visits to Lagoa's heritage (Convento do Carmo – current Convent'BIO; Centro Cultural Convento de S. José; Igreja Matriz de Lagoa; Igreja da Misericórdia and Municipal Archive of Lagoa), for a municipal technique.

A convivial lunch follows and, in the afternoon, at 15 pm, the presentation of four communications begins: The Outsider's readings (Maria Manuela Pereira and Rui Pereira); Online resources for Algarve Genealogy (and beyond) (João Ventura); Between Genealogy and Economic History: the Pinto da Palhagueira Family (XNUMXth-XNUMXth centuries) (Rui Jerónimo and Carlos Manuel Faísca) and Freire – Origins and Particularities of a Nickname (José Manuel Freire da Silva).

The Algarve Genealogists Meetings are informal meetings, held annually, where those interested in researching the history of their families with roots in the Algarve come together.

Held in a different Algarve location from year to year, participants share information with each other about the research they carry out, as well as presenting communications on the topics investigated within the scope of genealogy, heraldry, history and local traditions and documentary sources from the Algarve.

Program:

10h00 - Meeting at the old Convento do Carmo (currently Convent'BIO, in Lagoa), followed by a visit to the space.
11h00 - Opening session (Centro Cultural Convento de S. José), followed by a visit to the space.

12h00 - Visit to the Main Church, the Lagoa Municipal Archive and the Misericórdia Church
