Forum Algarve launches campaign dedicated to environmental sustainability

Today, National Sustainability Day is celebrated

The Forum Algarve shopping center, in Faro, prepared a campaign dedicated to environmental sustainability, launched this Monday, September 25th, National Sustainability Day.

This shopping center only consumes 100% renewable energy, working according to an Integrated Management System.

With photovoltaic panels installed on the roof of the building since 2012, more than 10 years ago, Forum Algarve has been able to produce the equivalent of the energy needed for the annual consumption of more than 120 people.

In the same period, Forum Algarve says it reduced its water consumption by around 3,4 million liters, the equivalent of 25.000 immersion baths, and reduced waste production by 20 tons per year, of which 99,9 % of waste produced at the Center is recovered.

Thus, for a month, visitors to Forum Algarve will be impacted by messages mirrored throughout the shopping center.

Sérgio Santos, director of Forum Algarve, considers that this campaign «is a way of showing the commitment we have and assume with our community. On the first National Sustainability Day celebrated in Portugal, we wanted to show that we are much more than an excellent shopping and leisure space».
