Algarve Dog Shows are back and Lagos will be host

The Dog Shows will be at night, with judging starting at 18:00 p.m.

The Algarve Dog Shows are back, after a few years of absence, on the 29th and 30th of September, and the Municipality of Lagos will be the host. 

Organized by the Portuguese Kennel Club (CPC) with the support of the municipality of Lagos, the national and international event will be free to enter and will take place at the Lagos Municipal Stadium.

Thinking about the well-being of the dogs that will participate, these Dog Shows will be nighttime (Night Dog Shows) with judging starting at 18pm.

The 29th will be dedicated to the 3rd Algarve National Dog Show, remembering the long tradition of this event in this area of ​​the country. On September 30th, the 32nd Algarve International Dog Show will take place, with 12 participating countries, including Portugal, reinforcing the importance of these exhibitions across borders. Participants will be evaluated by Portuguese judges and guest judges from Spain, Ireland and Italy.

After judging all the breeds, the Grand Prix begins, in which the podiums for Best Baby, Puppy, Junior, Veteran, Pair, Breeder Group and Stud are awarded. The dogs enter the ring in accordance with the ten Groups of the International Cynological Federation (FCI) and the ten dogs that will compete for the title of Best in Show, the ultimate winner, are chosen. Moments before, the Best Example of the Portuguese Breeds is judged, in which the public will have the opportunity to see the Portuguese Breeds, which represent our national genetic heritage, enter the ring of honor.

Internacional's “Best in Show” will be judged by judge Carla Molinari, president of the Board of Directors of the Portuguese Kennel Club, who is keen to be present at this return to the Algarve.

In parallel, this weekend, the 7th Portuguese Water Dog Meeting is taking place, organized by APCAP – Association for the Protection of the Portuguese Water Dog, which includes the 35th Portuguese Water Dog Monographic Dog Show.

On September 30th, from 22pm, at the Stadium, and two work events at Cais da Solaria, on Saturday at 00am and on Sunday at 11am (September 00th and October 10st).
