CTT launch stamp collection in honor of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Faro

Four stamps pay homage to many other festivals in the municipality

The Intangible Cultural Heritage of Faro, more specifically the municipality's festivals, «true treasures marked by creativity» are the theme of yet another collection of personalized stamps launched by CTT – Correios de Portugal.

The booklet, which is on sale for €2,44, is made up of four stamps – the Charolas (Bordeira), the Festa de Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes (Island of Culatra), Procession of the Dead Lord (Faro) and Festa da Pinha (Estoi), all at the rate of N20g for National Standard Mail.

UNESCO says that Intangible Cultural Heritage is “traditional, contemporary and living, involving groups present in communities who, from generation to generation, transmit memories, gestures, actions that promote a sense of identity and connection between the past and the present”, explain CTT

«It is something of value, preserved as a greater asset. This happens in the municipality of Faro with some festivals that, in several locations, are synonymous with people's love for their land, their memories and their ancestors. And the festivals that we illustrate here are a symbol of this municipality and its cultural richness», they add.
