Castro Marim City Council will promote, from the 11th to the 13th of October, a free screening for cancer and other skin diseases, in the four parishes of the municipality, and aimed at the entire population of the municipality.
This initiative is periodically developed and has the voluntary collaboration of dermatologist Manuela Aguiar.
Through these actions, the municipality states that, in addition to prevention, it has been possible to detect tumor lesions at an early stage. In addition, possible pre-cancerous lesions (actinic keratoses) are also treated with liquid nitrogen, purchased for this purpose.
The screening takes place in the municipality's parish offices and is free, but there are limited and mandatory registrations via telephone numbers 281 510 778 (Citizen Support Office) or 281 510 754 (Presidential Support Office).
This is an initiative of the Municipality of Castro Marim, with the support of the Algarve Regional Health Administration and the Sotavento Health Center Group.
