World Tourism Day was celebrated yesterday in Aljezur with a “Tourism Up” workshop, held as part of a program that aims to stimulate “green” and innovative businesses.
This training action, which was promoted in collaboration with Território Criativos and Turismo de Portugal, also aimed to reiterate «the need to increasingly value sustainable tourism».
According to the Aljezur Chamber, the “Tourism Up” program «was structured to support entrepreneurs in the tourism sector and to promote endogenous products, with a special focus on rural and remote areas».
«At a time when environmental issues, green investments and the promotion of sustainable practices are increasingly imperative, the Municipality of Aljezur joins this program recognizing that the tourism sector plays a crucial role in the transition to a more sustainable economy. green, while promoting greater support for local communities, especially in areas with low population density», adds the municipality.
Also to celebrate World Tourism Day, the Municipal Museum, the Antoniano Museum, the Museum of Sacred Art, the Casa-Museu Pintor José Cercas and the Museum of the Sea and Land of Carrapateira had free entry.
