Albufeira was promoted at a tourism fair in the Netherlands

The event had more than 75 thousand visitors

APAL – Albufeira Promotion Agency and Albufeira City Council promoted the municipality to the Dutch market, through participation in the 50 PlusBeurs Fair, which took place between the 12th and 16th of September, in Utrecht, in the Netherlands.

The “50 Plus Beurs” Fair «is especially aimed at the 50+Active segment and integrates several areas such as holidays, travel, leisure, health and well-being, among others. The event takes on greater relevance due to the opportunity to promote winter holidays and long stays here», according to Albufeira City Council.

Over the five days in total, more than 75 thousand participants visited this event «which is seen as an important window of opportunity to promote Albufeira, through an offer that extends beyond the bathing season».

Products such as golf, gastronomy and wine, or active tourism (diving, cycling routes, hiking, bird watching and coastal walks) were highlighted at the Albufeira stand, «duly supported by the hotel offer, quality of infrastructure and Soft weather".

Albufeira took to the event with a joint stand that included “counters from APAL and Municipality of Albufeira, but also from associates of that agency, such as Details Hotels & Resorts, Apartamentos do Parque, Visacar – Rent and Sale of Cars, Garvetur SA and Hotel Maritur ».

This is not the first time that Albufeira has participated in 50 Plus Beurs, «which clearly shows the importance of the event and the Dutch market itself for this municipality», according to the municipality.

The Algarve continues to be the Dutch people's first choice, nationally, accounting for around 45% of overnight stays from guests coming from the Netherlands.

«The average stay for Dutch tourists in Portugal is close to four nights, reaching seven nights in the Algarve. In that country, the age group of those who travel the most is 50 – 64 years old, which represents a share of 27,2% of the total number of travelers. It should also be noted that more than 65% of residents' trips in this country occur during low and mid-season periods», says Albufeira City Council.

APAL and the Municipality of Albufeira also have several actions planned until the end of the year. In October, Albufeira will once again promote itself at the IFTM – International & French Travel Market, which takes place in Paris, between the 3rd and 5th.

Also next month, a roadshow across the United States is scheduled, with travel agents and tour operators, which will take place in the week of October 16th to 20th, in Boston and New York.
