PJ says death in Quarteira was not homicide

Judiciary dismisses the scenario of homicide, which was suspected

The evidence collected so far, of the death of a Brazilian citizen, aged 44, this Monday night, August 28, in Quarteira, removes the suspicion that it was homicide, revealed the Judiciary Police (PJ). 

In a statement sent today, the PJ adds that, "from the examination carried out at the scene, from the collection of various testimonies and preliminary medico-legal information", evidence has been collected for the time being that "reject the suspicion" that the death was caused by caused “by the intervention of third parties”.

In other words, the Judiciary discards the scenario of homicide, which was suspected – and which even led the authorities to detain a 39-year-old man, an emigrant in France.

This whole situation happened on Monday night.

According to reports at the time, the man would have died after an argument with a motorcyclist who would have almost run over him on a crosswalk, in Quarteira.

The driver of the motorcycle, according to what was said at the time, allegedly threw a punch and applied a rear-naked choke to the victim.

In today's statement, the PJ reveals that it continues to investigate the case to “completely clarify the facts”.
