New Temporary Air Resources Center at MARF allows Kamov to return to the Algarve

This helicopter expands to six the aircraft allocated to the aerial device that operates from the Algarve

A heavy bomber helicopter – model Kamov-32 landed on the morning of this Tuesday, August 1st, at the new temporary Air Means Center of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC), installed next to the Supply Market of the Region of Faro (MARF).

This helicopter expands to six the aircraft assigned to the aerial device that operates from the Algarve, including rural firefighting planes and helicopters.

The HEBP Kamov-32, at the service of ANEPC, since the 21st of June, in the Special Device for Combating Rural Fires (DECIR), was parked at Air Base nº 11, in Beja, in view of the expansion and requalification works of the Helicopter Base in Permanent Service (BHSP) in the Algarve, installed at the Municipal Heliport of Loulé and whose deadline for completing the plate slipped, for reasons beyond the control of the State, to December.

The importance of proximity for an extended attack on the areas most vulnerable to the danger of fire in the Barrocal and Serra do Sotavento Algarve, over the next few months, led to the installation, in the parish of Estoi, of this new temporary centre.

According to the Regional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection of the Algarve, this project «implementation, planned and executed in record time, was only possible with the commitment, competence and determination of a multidisciplinary mission team coordinated by the Regional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection of the Algarve, with the essential support of the Municipality of Faro, through its Municipal Civil Protection Service, which ensured the entire logistical component in conjunction with the Fire Departments of the municipalities of Faro and Olhão».
