The Municipal Museum of Faro, which is located in an iconic building – whose construction dates back to the beginning of the XNUMXth century – will now have a lift to access the first floor, access to all rooms, as well as new workshops for the restoration service.

In this sense, the Chamber of Faro awarded Sociedade Ambartrans, Lda with a contract to improve accessibility conditions at the Municipal Museum of Faro and working conditions in the restoration service.

The intervention, whose award contract was signed this Monday, August 7th, has a value of 419.012,37 euros, plus VAT, and an execution period of 180 days from the date of consignment.

According to the Municipality, «this contract aims to improve working conditions and accessibility in this historic building located in Vila Adentro - the former Convent of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, whose construction dates back to the beginning of the XNUMXth century -, namely through the placement of an elevator access to the first floor, repaving, especially in the cloister area, and creation of access to all rooms, either through ramps or pavement modelling».

At the same time, «new workshops will be created for the restoration service, which will allow for a considerable improvement in working conditions for these professionals».

The municipality adds that the contract also provides for other «diversified works», namely «repair and replacement of baseboards, painting, cleaning of gutters and sinks, occasional repair of waterproofing, maintenance of carpentry, metalwork, maintenance and replacement of crockery, taps, and equipment, in particular communication equipment'.
