Martingil (Louletano) and Salgueiro (Tavira) are again the best Algarvians in the Tour

Stage won by Venezuelan Leangel Linarez, but Rafael Reis keeps yellow

César Martingil, from the Aviludo/Louletano/Loulé Concelho team, in 11th place, and Carlos Salgueiro, from AP Hotels & Resorts/ Tavira / SC Farense, were the best cyclists from an Algarve team in the 1st stage of the Tour of Portugal, which took place this Thursday, between Anadia and Ourém.

In this run, the winner was the Venezuelan Leangel Linarez (Tavfer-Ovos Matinados-Mortágua), in a sprint finish.

Even so, Rafael Reis (Glassdrive-Q8-Anicolor) kept the leadership of the general classification and kept the yellow jersey.

Linarez, 26 years old, covered the 188,5 kilometers between Anadia and Ourém in 4:33.04 hours, beating two Czechs from Caja Rural-Seguros RGA on the finish line: Daniel Babor was second and Tomás Bárta was third.

In the general accounts, Rafael Reis arrived with the same time as the winner and keeps the yellow jersey, now equaled by Linarez, second, leaving Babor in third place, one second away.

César Martingil (Louletano) is 6th overall, while Carlos Salgueiro (Tavira) is 12th.

On Friday, the second stage connects Abrantes to Vila Franca de Xira in 177,3 kilometres, with two flying targets (Torres Novas and Cartaxo) and two mountain counts, Alto da Agruela (fourth category) and Carvalha (third ).
