Luís Costa is 4th in the time trial of the Paracycling World Championship

Luís Costa was fourth today in the time trial of the paracycling world championship, which is taking place in Scotland.

The paracyclist from Alentejo, who has been based in Portimão for a long time, was close to securing another medal for Portugal at the 2023 multidisciplinary Cycling World Championship, in this case, in the H5 class time trial.

The national team athlete covered the 17 kilometers of the route located in the Dumbfries area in 26”44'48, having been 2”23'67 from the best time.

The race was won by the Dutchman Mitch Valize, ahead of compatriot Tim de Vries and Frenchman Loic Vergnaud.

Flávio Pacheco also participated in the road paracycling time trial, but in the H4 class, having finished in 15th position, after completing the 17 kilometers in 27”47'51.

This race was won by Jetze Plat (Netherlands), who overcame the French Mathieu Bosredon, second, and Joseph Fritsch, third.

«Flávio, even with some limitations, did his best and managed to finish 15th. He had the objective of being in the top eight, but we knew it wasn't easy. Luís was here to try to make the podium and he didn't make it, but he was close, in fourth, and congratulations are due”, explained José Marques, Paracycling coach.

This Thursday, Telmo Pinão (departs at 10:40 am), in class C2, and Bernardo Vieira (departs at 11:07 am), in class C1, cover the 17 kilometers in individual road time trials. For Friday and Saturday, the long-distance races are reserved, in which the four aforementioned paracyclists will participate, in their respective classes.
