Loulé has “Nights with Heritage” at the Islamic Baths

Islamic Baths were classified as a National Monument not long ago

Loulé will host, in August, “Nights with Heritage”, inviting guests to explore the Islamic Baths and the Manor House of Barreto.

On the first three Saturdays of the month, from 10:00 am to 23:00 pm, visitors will have the opportunity to get to know this museum space up close, which reveals the strong Islamic and noble influences in Loulé.

The occasion will also include thematic visits guided by Museum technicians, at 21:00, addressing various aspects related to the history, museography and archeology of this heritage.

On the first Saturday of the month, the 5th, André Costa brings us “A starting point for local history”, departing from this space that was recently classified as a National Monument.

On the 12th, Soraia Martins will host an evening where people will talk about “What was eaten here? The study of food from the remains of animals”. On the 19th of August, Alexandra Pires focuses on the theme “Museography of an archaeological space”.

The Islamic Baths and the Manor House of Barreto represent unique testimonies of the history and culture of Loulé, and the Municipal Museum intends to enhance and disseminate this important legacy.

Guided visits are free, but require prior booking. For more information and registration, contact us at 289 400 953.

This National Monument brings together two historic moments of great heritage and symbolic value for the city. It is a public bathing complex from the end of the period of Islamic occupation of the Algarve (it would have operated between the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries), having been occupied in the XNUMXth century as a dwelling.

On the other hand, it includes the archaeological remains of the noble house from the end of the XNUMXth century and the medieval and modern wall.
