The Municipality of Lagoa has prepared the 2023/2024 school year with an increase in support measures for students and families and with new support that now also covers teaching and non-teaching staff.
The big news is the free distribution of worksheets (Portuguese, Mathematics and English) for the 2nd cycle, free meals for students who benefit up to the 3rd step of family allowance, the extension of the Family Support Component (CAF) with the welcome and monitoring of students in the 1st cycle of basic education before the curriculum components and after the curriculum enrichment activities, as well as during periods of school break. In addition, there will be a setting of €2,75 for a full meal and €1,50 for a simple meal, for teaching and non-teaching staff of public school groupings.
Thus, for the 2023/2024 school year, the Municipality of Lagoa will offer school material to Pre-School students, school material and workbook for 1st cycle students, workbook (Portuguese, Mathematics and English) more a €25 voucher, to be discounted on school material, for 2nd cycle students and will offer a €25 voucher to be discounted on school material, to 3rd cycle and secondary school students, from public schools based in the municipality.
Vouchers can be exchanged for school material until the 31st of December at participating stationery stores: Papelada & Companhia, in Lagoa, Cantinho da Vila, in Estômbar, and Loja do Investidor, in Parchal.
Another support will cover free meals for students who benefit up to the 3rd step of family allowance, where parents and guardians must submit the application, attaching the statement proving the step of family allowance.
School transport to educational establishments in the municipality will continue to be free for all children and young people until the end of compulsory schooling. Including for student-athletes who attend UAARE – High Performance School Unit who reside in neighboring municipalities, whether in the public or municipal circuit.
There will be an extension of the Family Support Component (CAF), with the reception and monitoring of students from the 1st cycle of basic education, before the curriculum components and after the curriculum enrichment activities, as well as during periods of school break .
The reception times will be in the period before the start of the teaching activities (from 8:00 am), the extension is after the end of the curriculum enrichment activities (AEC) and until 18:30 pm and the full schedule includes the morning reception and the extension after the end of the AEC. The CAFs also work during the school breaks in November, Christmas, January, Carnival, Easter, June and until 31 July.
Attendance at the CAF assumes a family contribution and enrollment is subject to existing vacancies: 1 group of 25 children per 1st cycle Basic School, except for 2 groups at the Lagoa Basic School.
For the educational community, teaching and non-teaching staff of the Public School Groupings, a reduced contribution value of €2,75 was set for a complete meal and €1,50 for a simple meal, with people outside the Grouping will contribute the amount stipulated by the enabling legislation, namely €4,10.
In addition to this support for students, families and teaching and non-teaching staff, the Municipality will also sign protocols with School Groupings to support the Annual Plan for study visits, as well as for the acquisition of equipment and pedagogical and didactic material for the pre-school and up to secondary education, considering the process of transferring competences and agreed priorities.
