The 18th edition of the Silves Medieval Fair is right around the corner and anyone who wants to can experience it in the shoes of a character from history.
The “Medieval Experience” program takes participants to be part of the experiences of the former capital of the province that today corresponds to the Algarve.
Those who participate, "will explore the day-to-day life of a noble character of the time, experiencing all the emotion and nobility of this celebration in a privileged way", explains the municipality in a note.
The experience includes formal attire, reception in a special area, medieval hairstyle (for the ladies), participation in the procession through the streets of Almedina and Arrabaldes, a prestigious location for viewing the War Games, a banquet (Muslim-inspired menu) and a privileged location in the viewing of the show Noites do Oriente at Alcazar do Vizir (Castle).
In addition, it will be possible to participate in historical recreations developed under the theme “The Mosque, Symbol and Power”, which will make known the history of the building and consecration of the mosque, as a space of worship and symbolic manifestation of the new religion, in the early days of Islamization of a territory that will become one of the major political and cultural centers of Gharb al-Andalus.
The “Medieval Experience” takes place on the 12th, 16th, 18th and 20th of August, and is subject to prior booking and limited to 15 participants per day.
