César Martingil, from Aviludo/Louletano/Loulé Concelho, and Carlos Salgueiro, from AP Hotels & Resorts/ Tavira / SC Farense, finished in the top 10 of the classification of the 2nd stage of the Tour of Portugal, which took place this Friday between Abrantes and Vila Franca de Xira.

The cyclist from the Loulé club crossed the finish line in 4th place and remains 6th in the general classification. Carlos Salgueiro, from Tavira, came in 8th and remains in 12th overall.

The Venezuelan Leangel Linarez (Tavfer-Ovos Matinados-Mortágua) won the second stage of the Tour of Portugal in the sprint today. This was the second victory in a row, which allowed him to take the lead in the individual general classification.

Linarez, who had already raised his arms on Thursday, beat the Spaniard Miguel Fernandez (Burgos-BH), second, and the Czech Daniel Babor (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA), third, to win again after 4: 16.32 hours, necessary to complete the 177,2 kilometers between Abrantes and Vila Franca de Xira.

The Venezuelan is the new overall leader, due to time bonuses awarded to the first to cross the finish line, with Babor seven seconds away, in second place, and the previous leader, Rafael Reis (Glassdrive-Q8-Anicolo), at 10, in third.

On Saturday, the third stage connects Sines to Loulé in 191,8 kilometres, with three flying goals (Odemira, Ourique and Almodôvar) and two fourth category mountain counts (Pico do Mú and Cruz da Assumada), both already close to the finish.
