The Tour of Portugal returned to Loulé and the Yellow Jersey returned to Rafael Reis

Stage that ended in Algarve dictated changes on the overall podium

The Tour of Portugal returned to Loulé, in a run that started in Sines and was auspicious for Rafael Reis (Glassdrive-Q8-Anicolor), who recovered the Yellow Jersey that he had already worn after the prologue, in Viseu, on the first day of the race, and lost yesterday to the Venezuelan Leangel Linarez (Tavfer-Ovos Matinados-Mortágua).

João Matias, also from Tavfer-Ovos Matinados-Mortágua, who won two stages in 2022, was the first to cross the finish line, ahead of Spaniard Óscar Pelegri (Burgos-BH), second, and Luís Mendonça (Glassdrive-Q8-Anicolor). ), third.

Rafael Reis was ranked 12th, with the same time as the winner of the stage (4h49m11s), but well ahead of Linarez, who was 78th, at 4m40s.

From the Algarve contingent, the first to cross the finish line were two athletes from AP Hotels & Resorts/Tavira/SC Farense, Delo Fernandez (18th) and Carlos Salgueiro (23rd). Daniel Viegas, Carlos Oyarzún and Jesus del Pino, from Aviludo – Louletano – Loulé Concelho, arrived “home” in 31st, 35th and 37th position, respectively.

In the general accounts, Rafael Reis recovered the first and is now two seconds ahead of João Matias (2nd) and four seconds ahead of the German Lukas Meiler (Vorarlberg), who is third.

Among the Algarve's, the “tavirense” Carlos Salgueiro is the best positioned overall, in 9th place, eight seconds from the leader, soon followed by Carlos Oyarzún (Louletano), who is 10th, nine seconds from Rafael Reis.

On Sunday, the fourth stage connects Estremoz to Castelo Branco over 184,5 kilometres, with three flying targets and three categorized mountain climbs, all third category: Monte Paleiros, Serra de São Miguel and Retaxo.
