Tavira promotes the “Turismo Verde” photo contest with a prize of up to 1000 euros

Those interested in participating must submit their work by the 20th of August.

The Municipality of Tavira has just launched a “Turismo Verde” photo contest, as part of the celebrations of the World Tourism Day, which is celebrated on the 27th of September.

The contest, with a prize of up to one thousand euros, comes with the aim of «encouraging photographic activity, stimulating artistic sensitivity, awakening multiple looks on the municipality, namely on tourism, its impact and potential», says the municipality.

With this initiative, the Municipality also intends to "record different perspectives, namely, of nature, heritage and people, capturing the importance of a preserved natural heritage, the relevance of communities and practices for the sustainability of the Tavira destination, as well as a critical look at existing and potential green investments».

The photographs in the competition must be of the municipality of Tavira, framed in the themes “The color green” and “Circular economy / Sustainability”.

After analyzing the works, three prizes and two honorable mentions will be awarded, with the first place prize worth one thousand euros, second place five hundred euros and third place two hundred and fifty euros.

Those interested in participating must submit their work by the 20th of August.

Images must be sent by email ([email protected] via download link), CTT with acknowledgment of receipt, with reference to the contest and care of the Department of Sociocultural Development – ​​Tourism Service (Praça da República | 8800-951 Tavira) or in person at the Tourist Office of the Municipality of Tavira (USB device delivered in a closed envelope with the name of the competition indicated on the outside), during opening hours.

Additionally, 20 photographs, including the winning archives, will be selected to integrate an exhibition to open on World Tourism Day, September 27th.

This competition follows the commemorations of this event, which promotes awareness of the social, cultural, political and economic value of tourism and the contribution of this activity to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.​

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) defined that World Tourism Day, this year, will be celebrated around the theme “Green Tourism and Investment” and highlighted the priorities of this resumption, among them, accelerating climate action in tourism.
