The Cistercian Route 2023 program starts on the 22nd of July, at 18 pm, with a concert by Trio Elogio (guitars) at the Monastery of São Bento de Cástris, in Évora. Admission is free.
The initiative is promoted by ABA – Banda de Alcobaça Associação de Artes, in partnership with the Alentejo Regional Directorate of Culture (DRCAlentejo), under the Sphera Castris Project, and Évora City Council.
Trio Elogio, founded in 2009 by guitarists Petrit Çeku (Kosovo), Pedro Ribeiro Rodrigues (Portugal) and Tomislav Vukšić (Croatia), will perform works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Franz Schubert, Bruno Vlahek and Hugo Vasco Reis, in a concert with free admission.
The ABA – Banda de Alcobaça Associação de Artes promotes the Cistercian Route since 2015, in almost a dozen monasteries of the Cistercian order spread throughout the national territory, including, since 2017, the Monastery of São Bento de Cástris.
This cycle of Cistercian heritage concerts continues the following day, on the 23rd of July, with the Ensemble São Tomás de Aquino performing at the Monastery of Arouca.
Then, in September, the Cistercian Route will travel through Cistercian territories such as Figueira da Foz, Odivelas and Santarém (Monastery of Almoster).
