First days of CHUA Operational Assistants gathered 200 people

«The Hospital Center cannot function without operational assistants, whose functional content is vital for the institution»

200 people took part, on the 29th and 30th of June, in the 1st Conference of Operational Assistants at the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA), on the theme «Knowledge and Practice».

The event, which took place on the 29th of June in the auditorium of the Hospital de Portimão and on the 30th in the auditorium of the Hospital de Faro, aimed to «promote reflection and debate on key issues inherent to the performance of the functions of Operational Assistants, simultaneously being a space for presenting work, sharing knowledge and strengthening relationships between professionals from the various units, valuing the teamwork», explains the organization.

Satisfied with the results obtained, Mariana Santos, nurse-director of CHUA and the main promoter of these days, mentions the importance of this event for the promotion of motivation and growth in professional terms of the Operational Assistants, through the creation of a sense of belonging to the institution and within multidisciplinary teams.

«The objective of sharing knowledge among the operational assistants of the hospital units was clearly achieved», says Mariana Santos, who adds that «the feeling of satisfaction among people is notorious, who feel respected and recognized with the realization of these journeys».

Over the two days of the conference, topics such as: "Knowing how to be in a team", "Professional secrecy", "Good practice in customer service", "Waste", "Infection control", "Mobilization of loads" and "Training/ Performance evaluation".

Before the closing session, the new operational supervisors were presented to their peers.
