The new National Rail Pass has been on sale since the 1st of July, informed CP – Comboios de Portugal.

Valid for use from the 1st of August, the National Rail Pass will have a fixed monthly value of 49 euros and can now be requested at any CP ticket office.

This pass will exclusively cover all trips on regional trains throughout the national territory (not being applicable to inter-regional and urban trains), regardless of the point of departure or destination.

This new resource makes it possible for Portuguese citizens to travel, without timetable limitations or restrictions during periods of high demand, «thus offering an economical and environmentally friendly transport option, allowing pass holders to travel conveniently and flexibly throughout the country », stresses CP.

Pedro Moreira, president of CP, explains that «this pass is the result of the dedicated work, for several months, of the CP team that was behind the development of this new product, believing that this measure is a significant advance in CP's commitment to promote sustainable mobility, encouraging the use of public transport and promoting a transport alternative with less environmental impact, thus helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change».

In addition, the National Rail Pass «represents a crucial action for territorial cohesion». In this sense, Pedro Moreira stresses that, «by providing accessible mobility in all regions of the country, CP is promoting equal opportunities, we facilitate the flow of people, thus contributing to a balanced socio-economic development».

The National Rail Pass cannot be combined with other discounts.
