António Laranjo Martins, post-Revolutionary President of the Administrative Commission of the Council of Olhão, dies

António Laranjo Martins was a teacher, becoming president of the Board of Directors of Escola Secundária Dr. Francisco Fernandes Lopes

António Silvestre Laranjo Martins, President of the Administrative Commission of the Municipality of Olhão after the 25th of April 1974, died at the age of 85. The municipality has already expressed its "deep regret" for the death.

At a very young age, António Laranjo Martins was an employee of the Municipal Water Service, before completing his military service in Mozambique.

On his return to Portugal, he headed to Lisbon to attend the Physical Education teacher course, where he ended up practicing.

He was later a teacher at Tomás Cabreira Secondary School, in Faro, and for many years at Escola Secundária Dr. Francisco Fernandes Lopes, in Olhão, where he held various positions.

In addition to being a professor, he supervised internships for other colleagues and was chairman of the Board of Directors, among other functions.

According to the Câmara de Olhão, António Laranjo Martins «is greatly missed by all those who crossed paths with him throughout his life».

The municipality of Olhão praises, in a note of regret, "the contribution of António Laranjo Martins in the life of the community of Olhão" and addresses "the most heartfelt condolences to the family, especially to his son Fernando Laranjo Martins, an employee of the Municipality".
