Majorca Palma Futsal (Spain), reigning European champions, join current trophy holders Sporting and powerhouses Benfica and SC Braga, as well as Kairat Almaty (Kazakhstan) and Anderlecht (Belgium), for another edition of the Record International Masters Futsal, which takes place from the 23rd to the 27th of August, at the Portimão Arena.
The event advances to an unprecedented competitive model, with six teams and a total of nine games, four of them repeating the Final Four of the last Champions League, including the Sporting-Maiorca Palma Futsal final.
The competition was presented this Tuesday, July 18th, in a press conference, at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão, and will have another novelty.
On the 25th of August, Friday, a day of competitive rest, there will be the debut of the Record Summit Masters Futsal, a forum for discussion and sharing of knowledge about the modality, a training opportunity recognized by the IPDJ, which will immediately include the presence of the six coaches present at the Masters and a special guest: the current national coach, Jorge Braz.
Miguel Faro (Sporting Clube de Portugal), Gonçalo Alves (Sport Lisboa e Benfica) and Ricardo Vasconcelos (Sporting Clube de Braga), were present at the press conference to present the event, along with Isilda Gomes, mayor of Portimão, João Pedro Gomes , vice-president of the Algarve Football Association, and Bernardo Ribeiro, director of Record.
For the mayor, «the Masters is already part of our calendar and we hope for the year to be able to continue having the tournament».
«It is a pride for the city to be able to host this great competition», he added.
Bernardo Ribeiro, Director of Record, referred to this as the «best futsal tournament in the world».
«It is an honor to be associated with the best», he concluded.
