You can now submit your application for the Portimão Municipal Volunteer Award

Applications can be submitted between July 1st and October 15th

The deadline for submitting applications for the 5th edition of the Portimão Municipal Volunteer Award is between 1 July and 15 October. 

The award, instituted since 2019 by the Municipality of Portimão, aims to «stimulate the creation of innovative projects in the areas of solidarity, health, environment, social economy, education and training».

In order to encourage the exercise of social responsibility and active citizenship, candidate projects for the Municipal Volunteer Award should promote the improvement of the quality of life of children, young people, seniors, people with disabilities, homeless people, migrants , ethnic groups and/or people in vulnerable situations, creating a measurable impact on the lives of recipients.

After evaluation by the award jury, the four best projects will be distinguished, two in the Singular category and two in the Collective category, corresponding to a first and second place, which will receive financial support of 6.500 euros and 3.500 euros, respectively, for the development of each of the awarded applications, with the attribution of an honorable mention for each category being foreseen.

Applications must be submitted by October 15 of this year, by completing a digital form and in accordance with the terms of the regulation in force, available here

The selection of the four finalist candidates is scheduled for November next year, while the awarding will take place on December 5, International Volunteer Day, in a public ceremony promoted by the Municipality of Portimão.

In last year's edition, the prize in the Collective category went to the project “Navegar pela Mente”, by the association Teia d'Impulsos, which aims to enable the weekly practice of sailing to users who attend the Day Hospital of Psychiatry and Rehabilitation of CHUA – Portimão, providing the development of a sporting and therapeutic activity as a tool in the rehabilitation process.

In the same category, the second prize was given to the project Oficina Social de Bricolage by GRATO – Grupo de Apoio dos Drug Addicts, which involved equipping a van with maintenance material and tools, with the vehicle functioning as a workshop for small repairs at home, service to the most vulnerable and underprivileged population in the municipality.
