Man was stabbed inside the Convent of São Francisco de Portimão

Maritime Police assisted the victim and ensured security at the site until the arrival of the Judiciary Police

The Maritime Police assisted a 46-year-old man who was stabbed inside the Convent of San Francisco, in Portimão, following a brawl involving white weapons and firearms, today, Sunday, at dawn.

The alert to inform about the existence of aggressions with firearms and cold weapons inside the Convent of San Francisco was received at around 2:20 am, and elements of the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Portimão were sent to the location.

Upon arriving at the convent, the agents “found that a 46-year-old man of Portuguese nationality had been stabbed in the chest and back. The victim was conscious and was assisted by INEM and Portimão Volunteer Firefighters, and was subsequently transported to a hospital unit».

“The Maritime Police ensured the safety of the rescue teams and the preservation of the crime scene until the arrival of the Judiciary Police, who began the investigations”, according to the National Maritime Authority.
