Nuno Fazenda, Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services, announced this Wednesday, July 12, in Monchique, a new support line for tourism in the interior that has 15 million euros.
The announcement was made as part of the information sessions of the «Roteiro + Interior Turismo» that took place in Portel and Monchique.
This new support line will be «available to companies that own properties related to tourist activity or properties to be reconverted for tourism», explains the Ministry of Economy and Sea.
The objective is to stimulate the catalytic effect of tourism and the economic development of these territories, within the scope of the measures provided for in the Agenda for Tourism for the Interior.
Carried out within the scope of the Agenda for Tourism for the Interior and promoted by Turismo de Portugal, in collaboration with the municipalities and regional tourism entities, these initiatives embody the priorities of that Agenda, in the sense of making the tourist activity of this territory a factor of development and cohesion.
For this line of financing, operations that, in addition to sale and lease, propose investment in the requalification or modernization of properties can be considered. Created by TF Turismo Fundos – SGOIC, SA, this financial instrument safeguards the repurchase right.
«The investment must contribute to the reduction of regional asymmetries and to the reduction of seasonality in the demand for territories, to the enhancement of the cultural and natural heritage, as well as to the sustainable development of local communities and must present a degree of innovation in relation to the offer existing in the region", says the Ministry of the Sea.

For the Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services, «this is already the seventh measure that we are implementing in the Agenda for Tourism for the Interior, reflecting a continuous effort to operationalize measures and concrete support in favor of the interior» .
