Sagres Lifeguard Station assists the crew of a drifting vessel

Crew member «was fine»

Elements of the Sagres Lifeguard Station helped this Sunday, July 9, a crew member of a pneumatic boat that was adrift, south of Mareta beach, in Sagres.

​The alert was received at 15:30 pm, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisbon), and the picket of the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Lagos and the vessel from the Salvation Station were immediately activated for the location. -lives of Sagres.

«On arrival at the vessel, which was moving away from the coast due to the strong wind that was being felt, the elements of the Sagres Lifeguard Station verified that the crew member, a 38-year-old man of Italian nationality, was fine, without the need for medical assistance, having proceeded to its rescue», advances the National Maritime Authority in a note.

The pneumatic vessel, which belonged to a sailboat anchored on Mareta beach, was towed by the vessel from the Sagres Lifeguard Station to the sailboat. 

The Local Commander of the Maritime Police and Captain of the Port of Lagos coordinated the rescue operations and the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Lagos took care of the occurrence.
