Elon Musk considers changing Twitter's name and logo

“We will soon say goodbye to the Twitter brand and gradually to all the birds”

Multimillionaire entrepreneur and owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, said on Saturday he was considering changing the brand name and logo of that social network, known for its tiny blue bird.

"Soon we will say goodbye to the Twitter brand and gradually to all the birds", wrote Elon Musk, before suggesting that the new logo will be an "X".

Musk posted a video of a Twitter user on his Twitter profile, showing the current Twitter logo, a blue bird, replaced by a flashing X.

“If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we'll post it worldwide tomorrow,” he added.

After buying Twitter in October 2022 for $44 billion (€39 billion), Elon Musk changed the company’s name to “X Corp” in April 2023, and regularly talks about turning the social network into a multifaceted app with financial services, similar to WeChat in China.

Responding on Twitter to a question from a user who asked if Twitter would be accessible from the address x.com, Elon Musk replied: “Of course”.

X.com was the name and website of the online bank founded by the entrepreneur that later became the PayPal online payment service.

If the name change happens, this change would happen at a difficult time for Twitter, in which Elon Musk fired about half of the team and whose advertising revenue fell by half.
