Two of the five people arrested on Friday, July 7, for extortion, theft, drug trafficking and forgery of documents were held in preventive custody, after having been present yesterday, July 9, at the Judicial Court of Faro.
The remaining three were subject to biweekly presentations.
The arrest of the four men and one woman, aged between 22 and 39 years old, had been carried out on Friday by the Núcleo de Investigação Criminal (NIC) of the GNR in Albufeira.
As part of an investigation into extortion and theft, which had been going on for about three months, the Guard's military complied with five arrest warrants, three home search warrants and five in vehicles.
According to the Territorial Command of the GNR, an important and structured network that operated in the region, with particular incidence in the municipalities of Albufeira, Loulé, Faro and Portimão».
The police operation led to the seizure of 37 doses of MDMA, 4 doses of cocaine, 693 doses of hashish and 185 doses of cannabis.
The GNR also seized a firearm, 48 pieces of ammunition, four mobile phones, various items used in the preparation and packaging of narcotics, as well as €XNUMX in cash.
A gold thread, a gold bracelet and three gold rings were also recovered.
The police operation was reinforced by soldiers from the Criminal Investigation structure of the Territorial Command of Faro, the Territorial Detachments of Loulé and Portimão, the Intervention Detachment (DI) of Faro, of the Intervention and Special Operations Group (GIOE) and the Intervention and Public Order Group (GIOP) of the Intervention Unit (UI).
