Between the 23th and 27rd of August

The Medieval Days return to Castro Marim between the 23rd and 27th of August with the falconer as a special guest and an illustration created by Elias Gato, an illustrator with «Castromarinense soul, where he grew up and studied and where he currently resides».

Over five days, this border village goes back to the Middle Ages and suggests a program with street entertainment, historical recreations, handicrafts, gastronomy.

«It is the return to the most intriguing era in history, in an event that is distinguished by its concern with historical accuracy and the participation of more than 30 animation groups, national and international, some only present in Castro Marim», according to the Chamber.

As for the author of the illustration for this 24th edition, Elias Gato, he is an «illustrator, graphic printer, teacher, cultural mediator and independent editor».

«He has a degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon and a master's degree in Via Ensino de Artes Visuais from the Institute of Education. He was born 34 years ago in the Swiss town of Vevey, but he has a Castro-Marinian soul, where he grew up and studied and where he currently resides. Among his various professional achievements, we highlight the achievement of the 2016 Pingo Doce Children's Literature prize (illustration) and the promotion of the Estação das Artes project, operating in São Bartolomeu, a space for creation and creativity in which he promotes workshops and recovery of reproduction and painting techniques», describes the municipality.

Tickets will soon go on sale at the BOL online ticket office and at various associated points of sale.
