About 72 civil servants will progress in 2024 through the accelerator

Number was advanced today by the Minister of the Presidency Mariana Vieira da Silva

Around 72 civil servants are in a position to progress in their careers in 2024 through the progression acceleration mechanism, which was approved today by the Council of Ministers, as they meet the conditions and the six necessary points.

This number was advanced today by the Minister of the Presidency Mariana Vieira da Silva, who is in charge of public administration, at the end of the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers.

“Our expectation is that 72 workers will benefit from the measure in 2024”, he explained, noting that the measure should reach a total of almost 350 workers.

Of this universe, 200 thousand are workers in public functions, so they will certainly be covered by the progression accelerator. To these may be added those who have an individual employment contract, depending on whether the same performance assessment rules have been applied to them.

At issue is a mechanism that provides that workers who have 18 or more years of career functions and have been covered by the freezing periods that occurred between 2005 and 2007 and between 2011 and 2017, progress with six points in the performance assessment (compared to the 10 years currently required).

This point reduction is applicable only once to each employee, from 2024.

The measure, explained Mariana Vieira da Silva, will have a total budgetary impact of around 128 million euros, and will allow a worker who has been mentioned as 'Adequate' (which confers one point) in the last six evaluations to take a 'leap' in their career as early as 2024, instead of having to wait to reach 10 points.
