A National Self-Defense Internship took place on Saturday, July 29th, at the Municipal Pavilion José Guilhermino Anacleto, in Castro Marim.
Organized by the Personal Defense Association – Elite DP System and by Leões do Sul Futebol Clube, the internship was supported by the Parish Council and the Municipality of Castro Marim.
In this last stage of the season, there were about 70 athletes from various academies, namely Castro Marim, Quelfes, Pechão, Olhão, Faro, Montenegro, Loulé, Quarteira, São João da Madeira, Oliveira de Azeméis and Vila Nova de Gaia.
In addition to graduations, this national internship also served the purpose of acquiring knowledge and techniques with other coaches and among athletes.
From the Academy of Castro Marim/Leões do Sul FC, coach João Pacheco, four athletes graduated:
• José Nunes: Blue Belt – Red Belt
• Marisa Gonçalves: Green Belt – Blue Belt
• Pavel Torv: White Belt – Yellow Belt
• João: White Belt – Yellow Belt
Filomena Sintra, vice-president of the Municipality of Castro Marim, who was present at this initiative, praised the work carried out by Leões do Sul, also highlighting the collaboration developed in this edition of the Summer Active Holidays, with the holding of self-defense classes.
The articulation of activities with the various sports and cultural communities in the county is one of the hallmarks of this summer camp programme, constituting a way of working on the cultural identity of children and young people from Castromarin and, at the same time, making known and stimulating the different sports practices that the territory offers.
