The Municipal Library of Silves hosts, between the 1st and the 24th of August, a showcase of projects by students of the Degree in Design and Communication at Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes (ISMAT) in Portimão, developed during the academic year 2022/23.
The projects reflect the conceptual, technical and scientific skills that students have developed over their three-year training, where design and creativity are driven by methodologies and work processes, increasingly present in all economic sectors of society.
In this Exhibition, «the opportunity is given to learn about the learning path, where students are confronted with their own creative abilities to transformation through design, for the creation of strategy, brand and products in the most different areas».
Some of the exposed results were developed with real partners, namely with municipalities, small local companies and non-profit organizations from the Algarve region.
ISMAT explains that «a strong component of the work carried out by teachers and students, visible in this exhibition, is research around issues of biodiversity, sustainability, circularity and biomaterials; that are reproduced not only in the experiences and solutions developed, but also in the awareness that the designer must act in the resolution of environmental, social, economic and cultural problems».
For this reason, adds ISMAT, «also the training offer in the design area leads to a Design Master in Circular Economy, where students have been agents of transformation in the Algarve region in research projects funded by the EU».
