Athlete from Lagos Cristina Silva wins gold and silver medal at Special Olympics in Berlin

The merit of Cristina Silva's performance has now been recognized by the Municipality of Lagos, through the approval of a vote of congratulations and praise

Cristina Silva, a horseman from Lagos, won a gold medal in the Working Trail race, a silver medal in the English Equitation race, as well as a 4th place in Dressage, at the World Special Olympics Games that took place in Berlin, between 17 and 25 June.

The athlete from Lagos was part of the group of 37 athletes who represented Portugal at the World Special Olympics Games.

The merit of Cristina Silva's performance has now been recognized by the Municipality of Lagos, through the approval of a vote of congratulations and praise «dedicated to the athlete, as well as to her coaches Ângela Mesquita and Sue Wilson from Barlavento Adapted Riding Association, coach Patrícia Viegas, who accompanied and supported training on behalf of NECI – Specialized Nucleus for the Including Citizen, and, naturally, the family for their support and permanent support».

The municipality of Lagos, «along with the pride felt for winning these places on the podium», underlines the joy of «realizing that the commitment to Sport for All is a goal that is gradually being achieved, with more and more children, young people and adults to have the opportunity to practice sport, regardless of their physical condition, which makes it also a strong instrument for individual improvement and social inclusion».
