Here comes the Cidade de Marches Encounter Faro, at the São Luís Stadium

Show starts at 21pm and is free to enter.

The São Luís Stadium will host, on the 18th of June, the Meeting of Marches Cidade de Faro, organized by the Municipality of Faro, in partnership with Sociedade Recreativa Bordeirense.

On that day, the six participating groups will parade along Avenida Almeida Carrapato, at 20 pm, to the São Luís Stadium, starting the show, with free admission, at 30 pm.

In addition to the Popular March of Bordeira (Faro), the event will be attended by five guest groups: the March of Joy (Patacão), the March of Saobrazarte (São Brás de Alportel), the March of Baeta Messejana (Aljustrel), the March of São Vicente (Lisbon) and also the Penha de França March (Lisbon).

In a note, the City Council of Faro recalls that the Marcha de Bordeira was the first in the Algarve to parade along Avenida da Liberdade, on the eve of Saint Anthony's Day, opening the parade of the Popular Marches of Lisbon, in 2015.

The autarchy intends, with the Encontro de Marchas, «to reaffirm the authenticity and identity of the culture of the south of the country and to attract visitors to the city during the popular saints’ season, as well as to value the action of the local associations that actively participate in the animation of the city ».
