The Union of Parishes of Faro launched the new edition of the “Historic Essay” award, intended to reward the best work dedicated to any period in the history of the city of Faro and its cultural heritage.
Works can be submitted by national or foreign citizens, as long as they present their work in Portuguese, and cannot exceed 150 pages. The structure of the work is free. However, the authors of the works must comply with the rules for formatting the works.
According to the Union of Parishes of Faro, «the aim of this award is to contribute to the appreciation and increase of historical knowledge about the city of Faro, being at the same time a stimulus to carry out more research work in Faro allowing a more robust and comprehensive knowledge of the history and identity of this important millenary city».
In addition to the originality and scientific rigor of the works in competition, the jury will consider the clarity of the text and its communicational merit as criteria.
The Union of Parishes of Faro it may, if it so wishes, publish the winning work in its own edition and the works must be delivered by the 30th of November.
