Lagos City Council will financially and logistically support FELIZONDA, a Ukrainian-Portuguese cultural festival, which aims to celebrate cultural diversity, peace, friendship and solidarity between peoples, which takes place between June 29th and 2nd. de Julho, at Praça do Infante and at Jardim da Constitution.
Organized by ORANTA – Association for the Support of the Ukrainian Community in Portugal, FELIZONDA brings to Lagos prominent names from the Ukrainian artistic scene, such as rock star Oleg Skrypka, NAONI ORCESTRA – National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Ukraine and singer jazz Laura Martin.
Added to these names are Portuguese artists and artists from other nationalities who add their voice, music and talent to the poster for this celebration.
The program also foresees the participation of local and international DJs, the recreation of a typical Ukrainian village, food and drinks, exhibitions,
children's area and a craft fair. The event is organized by volunteers and has free admission, with donations reverting to support Ukraine.
«The objective is to help the rehabilitation center for veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war, founded by Natalia Tarabalka, mother of the Hero of Ukraine, the pilot Stepan Tarabalka», explains the municipality.
In approving the subsidy in a meeting of the municipal executive, the importance of the event as a manifestation of support and solidarity with a people who are the attacked party in the conflict was highlighted, as well as the fact that the Festival contributes to the integration of the Ukrainian community in Portugal.
