Lagos promotes education offer within the scope of Specialized Technological Centers

The aim is to reinforce the attractiveness of dual-certification secondary-level training

The Lagos City Council and the Júlio Dantas School Group signed a partnership protocol within the scope of the application for the creation of Specialized Technological Centers (CTE), in the Industrial Area and in the Information Technology Area, presented to the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR ).

According to the municipality, «the objective is to reinforce the attractiveness of secondary-level dual certification training in areas of specialization that require qualified labor and are part of a process of technological change accelerated by the challenges of climate transition and digital transition» .

The CTE Informático includes courses for Technician in Management and Programming of Information Systems and Computer Programmer.

The CTE Industrial, on the other hand, includes courses in Pastry/Bakery Technician, Kitchen/Pastry, Restaurant/Bar and Tourism.

Applications for funding through the PRR are aimed at modernizing and improving the technical and pedagogical capacity of the educational and training spaces, but also the quality and expansion of the training offer, as well as its adequacy to local social needs and companies.

This investment also intends to have repercussions on the profile of students who access higher education and/or the job market.

The Câmara de Lagos recalls that the Gil Eanes School Group, also in that municipality, has Specialized Technological Centers operating, namely an Industrial CTE and a Renewable Energy CTE.

This Grouping of Schools intends to make available, in the next academic year, the following training offer, with some continuing courses and other new ones: Naval Electricity; Automotive Mechatronics; Electronics, Automation and Control; Electrical Technician; Technician Installer of Photovoltaic Solar Systems; Technician Installer of Renewable Energy Thermal Systems; and Civil Protection Technician.
