ISMAT presents results of the new edition of “School – Sustainable Communities”

Project involves parish councils and vocational training schools

The projects resulting from yet another edition of the academic project “School – Sustainable Communities”, in which Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes (ISMAT) sensitizes students from Algarve schools to the problem of desertification in the interior, will be presented on Thursday, 15, at ISMAT facilities, in Portimão.

“School – Sustainable Communities” is a project that integrates the interconnection with the community, in which five parish councils and professional training schools in the Algarve are involved.

«This project aims to address the issue of desertification in the interior and make students aware of the problems that these regions present. In this sense, its main aims are the elaboration of relevant tourism development works/projects – linking communities, the economy and the environment- and establishing synergies between the various domains of knowledge/teaching, society and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals ( ODS)», according to ISMAT.

In the session on the 15th of June 2023, which will take place between 14 pm and 30 pm, prizes will be awarded to the municipalities involved, the Parish Councils of Budens (Vila do Bispo), Cachopo (Tavira), Alferce (Monchique), Silves and Mexilhoeira Grande (Portimão).

The ceremony also includes a visit to the project exhibition and a performance by Ismatuna.
