Registration for participation in the 34th Feira Concurso Arte Doce, in Lagos, has already opened and can be done until the 30th of June.
This year, the Fair takes place from the 26th to the 30th of July, with many delicacies and entertainment. The Municipality of Lagos approved the rules for participation applicable to the Confectionery, Other Food Products, Handicrafts, Restaurants and Beverages, Tasquinhas and Roulotte categories, as well as the operating rules for the Confectionery Contest included in this 34th edition.
Through the “Arte Doce” contest, participants can frame their works in the categories of Free Theme and Mandatory Theme “Lagos – Past, Present and Future”, both intended to promote art and design in confectionery.
The competition “Sweets of Innovation” aims to stimulate the ability to create or recreate a sweet that represents innovation compared to traditional sweets, but which must have one or more products endogenous to the region as ingredients. Confectionery exhibitors will certainly also be able to participate in the “Quality in Tradition” competition, which evaluates and distinguishes the rigor in making sweets and the quality of their ingredients in four categories of Algarve regional sweets: Doce Fino, D. Rodrigo, Morgado and Doce de Figo.

In a note, the Câmara de Lagos recalls that the objective of the event is “to promote traditional sweets and other regional products produced in the municipality of Lagos and in other municipalities in the Algarve, with the representation of other regions also being foreseen”.
«The initiative also aims to contribute to the dissemination of knowledge, the preservation and revitalization of practices and customs, the affirmation of local and regional cultural identity, the dynamization of the local economy and the enhancement of the offer of tourist entertainment in the high season », also refers to the municipality.
