A Mobile Health Unit once again provided health services in the parishes of Mexilhoeira Grande, Alvor and Portimão, every month, "prioritizing intervention with the senior population and in a context of greater isolation".
Among other advantages, the mobile unit «allows you to act in a preventive way», with this proximity service being ensured by a partnership established between the City Council, the three parish councils of the municipality and the Care Unit in the Dunas Community – Grouping of Health Care Centers. “In this unit, screenings are carried out at the level of diabetes and high blood pressure, therapeutic regimes are managed, individual vaccine/vaccination plans are monitored and tips are provided to the target population that promote behavioral improvements for the benefit of health”, according to the Portimão City Council.
The Mobile Health Unit travels every month to the parish of Mexilhoeira Grande with the following stopping points: in the first week – Figueira (Monday), Senhora do Verde (Wednesday) and Monte Canelas (Thursday) ; in the second week – Montes de Cima (Monday), Arão (Wednesday) and Pereira (Thursday).
As for the Parish of Alvor, the Mobile Health Unit visits the following locations in the third week of the month: Montes de Alvor (Monday), Alvor – close to the Parish Council (Wednesday) and Alvor – close to the Community Center ( Thursday).
In the fourth week, the vehicle has the following itinerary in the parish of Portimão: in the months of June, September and December – Senior Social Center of Aldeia das Sobreiras (Monday), Community Center of Cruz da Parteira (Wednesday) and Pontal Community Center (Thursday); in July and October – Porto de Lagos (Monday), Rasmalho (Wednesday) and Chão das Donas (Thursday); and in August and November – Portimão Senior Living Center (Monday), Coca Maravilhas Community Center (Wednesday) and Pedra Mourinha (Thursday).
