GNR reinforces patrolling and inspection in agricultural and forestry holdings

GNR recalls that, last year, there were 561 accidents involving agricultural vehicles, 47 dead and 64 seriously injured.

The GNR reinforces, as of today, patrolling and inspection in agricultural and forestry holdings with the aim of preventing possible situations of human trafficking and theft and to promote the safe use of vehicles.

In a statement, the National Republican Guard (GNR) said that the "Campo Seguro 2023" operation, which ends on December 31, aims to intensify patrolling, inspection and awareness, in agricultural and forestry explorations throughout the national territory, to prevent the crime in general and theft in particular, as well as possible situations of human trafficking”.

The GNR also intends to sensitize the general population and the rural population in particular to the adoption of behaviors with a view to preventing situations of theft of agricultural products, copper and other non-precious metals and the safe use of agricultural and forestry vehicles.

The GNR recalls that, last year, there were 561 accidents involving agricultural vehicles, 47 dead and 64 seriously injured.

"Awareness actions will be triggered aimed at users of tractors and agricultural machinery, with the aim of enforcing safety rules and preventing the occurrence of accidents when maneuvering agricultural and forestry vehicles/machines", says the GNR.

In the note, the guard advises users not to neglect vehicle maintenance, to use lighting and signaling accessories, in accordance with the law, to attend theoretical and practical training actions, and not to drive under the influence of alcohol, fatigue or speed not suitable for the conditions of the vehicle and the load carried.

The GNR also recalls that protective structures, such as the “Santo António” arch, can prevent the driver from dying or reduce the severity of injuries.

Within the scope of the operation, military personnel from various areas of the GNR will be involved, namely from the Territorial Commands, the Nature and Environment Protection Service, the State Security and Honors Unit and the Fiscal Action Unit.

According to the guard, control and inspection actions will also be carried out on the transport of agricultural and forestry products at land border crossing points, in coordination with the Spanish Guardia Civil.
