International photographer Rankin exhibits PURE at the In The Pink gallery in Loulé

This is the purest my photography can be», adds the photographer

The international photographer Rankin will present a PURE exhibition, with a selection of works that represent the creative approach of his professional path, in his first collaboration with the In The Pink gallery, in Loulé. The opening of the exhibition is scheduled for the 24th of June.

«The proposal offers an interaction between light and darkness, life and death, through works that create a broad aesthetic dialogue», emphasizes the gallery.

Curated to show Rankin's work and vision in its purest form, the works on display "are not the visibly clean photographs of social media or advertising, but rather an exploration of personality, performance and, in many cases, of natural imperfection».

In the artist's words, «this exhibition is a new realization of my fascination with life and death, and with the real versus the unreal. These are the topics that most
have fascinated me throughout my career. As I get older, all these ideas become more intertwined in my imagination. Such ideas are not mutually exclusive to me and I am able to find one within the other».

«To show my new works about flowers together with portraits and images from the haute couture and beauty industry is to draw a thematic and intentional line. I always strive to seek reality in beauty. The real person behind any image I make. This is the purest my photography can be», adds the photographer.

Rankin was a co-founder of the magazine Dazed & Confused with Jefferson Hack in 1991 and has since published over 40 books including Another e Another Man, and launched the biannual printed fashion, culture and lifestyle magazine, and digital platform, Hunger.

His photographs have been published in several international magazines, including Elle, Vogue, Esquire, GQ, Rolling Stone e Wonderland, and exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including MoMA in New York and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Rankin currently lives in London with his wife Tuuli and their dogs.
