Cinema, music, circus art, workshops, performances and much more. “(Un)comfortable Heritage” is the theme chosen for this year's edition of DiVaM – Dynamization and Enhancement of Monuments, which will be presented this Saturday, May 27, at 16 pm, in the auditorium of the Fortress of Sagres.
«The proposed theme made it possible to work on various themes, firstly those associated with issues of heritage (de)colonization and those related to identities, social segregation, racism and post-colonial memories. But so many other issues will be addressed, such as those related to the importance of mental health these days, or those associated with bullying, violence, oppression and power hierarchies», explains the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve (DRCAlg) .
On this day, the DiVaM program will open with a “golden key” with the first session of the Film Cycle “Libertar a Memória”, promoted by the Cineclube de Faro. The cycle will open with the screening of the film “On Africa”, by Skip Norman.
The film cycle “Libertar a Memória” will run until September (dates to be announced) and will be coordinated artistically and curated by Luísa Baptista and technical production by Pedro Mesquita.
The ceremony ends with a drink offered by Quinta do Barranco Longo.
The DiVaM program continues next Sunday, May 28th, at the Roman Ruins of Milreu, with the project “Ecos Refeitos”, promoted by Associação Cultural Música XXI, to be presented at 17 pm.
The project has the participation of Ana Cristina Oliveira, António Gambóias, Catarina Silva and musician Rui Afonso. Students from Escola Secundária Pinheiro e Rosa: Beatriz Barroso, Joana Fernandes, Letícia Moreno and Rita Roboredo are also part of this presentation. DiVaM 2023 will take place in the monuments dedicated to DRCAlg – Fortress of Sagres, Hermitage of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe and in the Roman Ruins of Milreu – until the 3rd of December.
