A “Social Portrait of the Combatant” from Overseas to see in Castro Marim

The exhibition will be open until the 11th of June.

The exhibition “The Colonial or Overseas War – A Social Portrait of the Combatant” opened to the public this Monday, April 24, at Casa do Sal, in Castro Marim.

The exhibition was developed by the Núcleo de Vila Real de Santo António of the Liga dos Combatentes in close collaboration with the Municipality of Castro Marim and intends to rescue memories and events of the Colonial War, «between the moments of war and integrating contexts, in which the combatants socialized with local populations», says the Castro Marim Council.

The exhibition also includes some pieces collected by overseas combatants, namely João Caldeira and António Vidal.

The exhibition will be open until the 11th of June and can be visited every day, between 9 am and 30 pm and 13 pm and 00 pm.

The inauguration was preceded by a tribute to the combatants of the Overseas War, next to the monument dedicated to the combatants in Rua de São Sebastião, in Castro Marim. Present were different groups from the Algarve of the Liga dos Combatentes, represented by President General Joaquim Chito Rodrigues.
