UAlg hosts Council of Rectors meeting with participation of Moroccan universities

This Tuesday, May 2nd, between 14:30 pm and 17:30 pm

The University of the Algarve (UAlg) will host on the 2nd of May, between 14 pm and 30 pm, the meeting of the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities (CRUP), which will also be attended by representatives of all Moroccan public universities.

The meeting takes place in the Rectory's Seminar Room (Building 5), in the Campus of Gambelas.

The UAlg clarifies that the participation of Moroccan public universities, “in addition to representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation in that country, is taking place within the framework of the meeting of the international project “Institutionnalisation des Centers de Formation par Alternance aux Universités Marocaines -ICFAL ”», which takes place between the 2nd and 4th of May.

Funded under the European Erasmus+ program capacity building of higher education, this project focuses on the institutionalization of training centers in alternation, «a possibility of curricular and training innovation that is being implemented in Moroccan universities».

This joint meeting of the rectors of Portugal and Morocco is being held at the invitation of the rector of the University of Algarve Paulo Águas.

The Moroccan delegation of rectors and vice-chancellors, on the advice of the minister responsible, will be headed by Abdellatif Moukrim, rector of Hassan I University, in Settat.

«The relations between this university and the UAlg date back more than ten years, in terms of mobility of teachers and students, research projects and doctoral theses under joint supervision. The two universities will sign a new cooperation protocol in the coming weeks», clarifies the educational institution.

At this meeting, the first at this level, between the institutions of both countries, «the aim is to create a first contact for the creation of axes for future cooperation. The respective teaching and research systems will be presented and the steps for structuring the aforementioned cooperation will be outlined", stresses the UAlg, adding that it is not just a question of studying possibilities for closer internationalization, "but also of conceiving possibilities for pooling resources to joint interaction in broader axes».
