The Municipality of São Brás de Alportel promotes this Saturday, April 22nd, the 1st edition of the Localities Cup in Petanque, which will take place in the Complexo de Campos Municipais de Petanca, between 8 am and 30 pm.
The competition has teams from 16 locations across the country and some of the best Portuguese players in the sport.
«Developed in a unique and innovative format for this modality in Portugal, the competition requires that each location present a player under the age of 22, increasing and enhancing the number of young athletes», explains the municipality.
This is also an event with a charitable nature as it will support the Association for the Defense and Protection of Abandoned Animals “Coração 100 Dono”. Each locality/team will contribute with essential goods for animals.
The initiative is developed within the scope of an internship project of the Sport course at the University of Algarve and organized by the City Council, with the support of the Parish Council of São Brás de Alportel, the University of Algarve and the Portuguese Petanque Federation.
